Marvin Watch Care

THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO MARVIN WATCH CARE

A Marvin timepiece is engineered to last a lifetime and beyond when handled with proper care. To preserve the enduring aesthetics and high-precision mechanism of your watch, we recommend following these professional maintenance tips.

Daily Usage & Protection

  • Magnetism: Keep your watch away from objects with strong magnetic fields, such as televisions, speakers, refrigerators, induction cookers, and mobile phones. Magnetism can cause a watch to stop or lose accuracy.

  • Chemical Exposure: Avoid contact with solvents, mercury, cosmetics, detergents, adhesives, paints, or perfumes. These substances can discolor, deteriorate, or damage the case and strap.

  • Impact Resistance: While Marvin watches feature shock-resistant components, they remain high-precision instruments. Avoid violent collisions or dropping the watch on hard surfaces like granite or concrete.

  • Temperature Extremes: Never wear your watch in hot baths, saunas, or high-temperature environments (above 50°C). Heat causes the rubber waterproof gaskets to age prematurely and may lead to internal mechanical damage.

Water Resistance Guidelines

Water resistance is not a permanent condition and depends on the integrity of the seals.

  • 30 Meters (3ATM): Suitable for daily life, such as hand washing, face washing, and rain splashes.
  • 50 Meters (5ATM): Suitable for car washing, showering, and swimming.
  • 100+ Meters: Suitable for snorkeling and diving.
  • Important: Ensure the crown is always pushed in or screwed down tightly before any contact with water. Do not operate the crown or buttons when the watch is wet.

Movement Care

For Automatic Mechanical Watches

  • Winding: These watches rely on your arm's movement. For accurate timekeeping, wear your watch for at least 8 hours a day.
  • Power Reserve: If the watch has not been worn for over 40 hours, manually wind the crown approximately 20 times to restart the movement.
  • Inactivity: If not worn regularly, wind the watch at least once a month to prevent the internal oils from congealing.

For Quartz Watches

  • Battery Replacement: Replace the battery every 1–2 years. If your watch has a low-battery indicator (the second hand jumping every 4 seconds), replace it within 3 weeks to avoid leakage damage.

Setting & Adjustments

  • The "Danger Zone": Do not adjust the calendar, day, or moon phase between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM. During this window, the gears are engaged for the automatic changeover, and manual adjustment can damage the movement.

  • Screw-down Crowns: If your Marvin has a screw-down crown, rotate it counter-clockwise to unscrew before pulling it out. Always screw it back in clockwise while applying gentle pressure to ensure water resistance.

  • Calendar Sync: To avoid AM/PM confusion, set the date to the day before today, then advance the time until the date clicks over to the current day.

Materials & Cleaning

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the case and metal bracelet with lukewarm water and a soft cloth to remove perspiration and salt buildup, which can cause corrosion.
  • Leather Straps: Keep leather dry. Avoid moisture, humidity, direct sunlight (to prevent fading), and oily substances or cosmetics.
  • Sapphire Crystal: While sapphire is highly scratch-resistant (Mohs 9), it can still be scratched by diamonds or materials containing quartz, such as sandpaper or granite.

Professional Servicing Schedule

To ensure your Marvin watch remains in peak condition, we recommend the following service intervals:

  • Waterproof Testing: Once every year.
  • Mechanical Movement Maintenance: Every 3–5 years for a complete overhaul and lubrication.
  • Quartz Movement Maintenance: Every 5–7 years.
